THE MISSION
Share My Meals is a Princeton, NJ-based nonprofit organization that fights both food insecurity and the environmental impact of food waste by recovering and delivering healthy meals to the local community. Working with its local partners, Share My Meals addresses both of these critical issues at once with a unique, tech-enabled model that recovers healthful, prepared meals, and delivers them directly to the homes of families
in need. Share My Meals collects balanced meals made from surplus prepared foods from food service providers and distributes them directly to the homes of families in need, leveraging volunteers and technical solutions to create a seamless, sustainable model.
Share My Meals
THE CONTEXT
As Share My Meals took on their first strategic planning process, Almora helped provide professional guidance to ensure success. Together, we set a strong foundation by articulating a vision, reviewing their mission, and defining their organizational values. Next, we analyzed their programs, their fundraising approaches, and the effectiveness of their communications. We helped identify areas to develop greater capacity by advising them on the creation of an Advisory Council. Our collaborative and professional engagement of their board and leadership team in our interactive strategic planning process made for not only a very productive experience but an enjoyable one too. While initially hesitant about the time commitment involved, the client ultimately sought additional time to delve deeper into pressing issues.
Share My Meals
THE RESULTS
Share My Meals is excelling in the implementation of its plan, dynamically following the roadmap we designed together to guide its process. They are reaching some goals sooner than expected and feel in a great place because the entire team knows who is to do what by when against specific milestone objectives. They are currently achieving their fundraising goals and identifying new donor partnerships. Their founder and president allowed her team to contribute and be part of the process and set the tone for their work over the next three years.
